Ms. McCollum Recognized as FCPS 2020 Region 2 Outstanding Secondary Teacher
Congratulations to math teacher Carol Ann McCollum who was recognized as the FCPS 2020 Region 2 Outstanding Secondary Teacher and one of five finalists for the 2020 Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award!
Each day, when students enter Carol Ann’s classroom they are greeted with a smile and a fresh start. Throughout each of her 12 years as an educator, her mission has been for all of her students to know that she truly cares about them and their success. Carol Ann feels a calling to work with Algebra 1 and Geometry students with diverse backgrounds, academic strengths, and learning needs. She creates a welcoming environment with innovative lessons and techniques to make math accessible and enjoyable for each student. With patience and understanding, she continually encourages her students to develop the mindset and confidence they need to overcome insecurities and tackle any challenge — both inside and outside the classroom.
